OmiseGO (OMG), the blockchain project in charge of the 33rd largest cryptocurrency in the world, has released its June 2019 roundup, outlining some of the significant milestones reached by the project, including the launch of Samrong’s public alpha, Ethereum integration for its eWallet and more, according to a blog post on June 30, 2019.

OmiseGO, the Ethereum-based distributed ledger technology (DLT) project that claims to be focused on becoming the world’s largest peer-to-peer (P2P) cryptocurrency exchange platform by enabling financial inclusion and interoperability through its decentralized OMG network, has released details of the work completed in June 2019.
As stated in its blog post, the OmiseGO team successfully launched the public alpha of Samrong, the latest update of its network, while also merging the potterhat Ethereum node monitoring and RPC relay, and node failover to make it possible for the OmiseGO Plasma node and eWallet to use potterhat for higher Ethereum connectivity.
The OmiseGo team also worked on the Ethereum integration as well as the eWallet Suite of the platform to further make it easier for businesses and individuals to set up their own blockchain-powered digital wallet services.
The team says it laid some foundation aimed at fostering seamless Ethereum integration, including the implementation of some low-level codes for sending ETH and ERC-20 tokens and the team says users can now make transactions from the hot wallet to Ethereum and get their balances quickly.
Other Key Achievements
To improve user experience as well as security, the OmiseGO team says it made some admin panel improvements including the addition of a 2-Factor-Authentication (2FA) for eWallet admins, as well as a few design upgrades.
The OmiseGO team explain:
“The upgrades now provides an additional way for admins to secure their account and with the improvements in a few pages within the admin panel, it all equals to a more secure and easy to use eWallet Suite,”
That’s not all, the team has hinted that its also working on a design that would support a “persistently high throughput API for transactions” and have carried out more refractors to make the watcher more resilient.
The Samrong Advantage
Per the team, unlike the OmiseGO Ari version which runs on a Minimum Viable Plasma (MVP), Samrong runs More Viable Plasma (MVP), which makes the latter’s Plasma smart contract more robust and compliant.
Samrong is also more resilient, has less downtime, allows users to sign transactions with EIP 712 standard and it features a meta-data field that allows users of decentralized applications (dApps) to store any information in their transactions.
