Refereum, a distributed ledger technology (DLT) powered reward and marketing firm that rewards game players for performing various activities including watching game streams and sharing content, has partnered with PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUGB) to make it possible for the latter’s gamers to earn $RFR tokens when they complete in-game tasks, according to a press release on July 24, 2019.
PUGB Gamers Earning Cryptos for Playing
Per a PRNewswire press release, gaming industry heavyweights Refereum and PUGG, have inked a strategic partnership deal aimed at rewarding game players for their efforts.
With the partnership, players of the multi-award-winning PUGB blockbuster action video game will now be rewarded with Refereum’s RFR utility tokens when they achieve in-game feats such as winning a match.
Commenting on the partnership, Refereum CEO, Dylan Jones has said that the main goal of the alliance is to adequately reward gamers for all the efforts they put into promoting the games they love.
In his words:
“Gamers do so much free marketing for games via streaming services and on social media platforms. However, they hardly get compensated sufficiently for it. With this revolutionary new way of rewarding game players for their in-game engagement with PUBG, we not only reward them for playing a game that they love, but for their dedication in becoming better players, too.”
Fostering Blockchain Adoption Through Video Games
Since concluding its hugely successful initial coin offering (ICO) earlier in December 2017, Refereum has remained dedicated to fostering blockchain technology adoption by directly connecting developers and influencers.
The platform is run by a dedicated team of DLT, crypto, and game industry veterans. Refereum reportedly works with several highly reputed game makers including Unity, making it possible for members of a vast array of gaming communities to connect and earn rewards for their influence.
Founded in March 2007 by Chang Byung-gyu, PUBG is the developer of TERA and the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS games. The latter has seven Guinness World Records titles under its belt, including the first video game to reach 2 million concurrent players on Steam and the most actively played game on Steam, to mention a few.
Though nascent, blockchain technology has proven in recent times that it has all it takes to change the face of numerous sectors of the global economy including gaming.
Earlier in March 2019, BTCManager informed that Enjin had collaborated with Unity to launch the blockchain development kit for the former on the Ethereum Testnet.
