Spanish Football Club Signs Blockchain Fan Platform

According to a press release dated September 6, Spanish football club Atletico de Madrid has just announced a partnership with, the blockchain company that develops Fan Tokens to offer to supporters in order to increase engagement.

The Partnership

Football Club Atletico de Madrid has just closed a partnership with blockchain-based fan engagement platform Socios is blockchain company that develops Fan Tokens for Football clubs. Fan tokens allow supporters to acquire voting rights and influence the decision of the underlying football club. The platform is a kind of gamification of the football supporting experience, token holders can participate in the club decisions by submitting voting rights linked to their tokens and even get rewards.

Atletico de Madrid is betting on Socios to increase its engagement with the fans and potentially increase its global audience. Atletico de Madrid will be the first Spanish club to choose the Socios platform and it will join other top tier football clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Juventus, AS Roma and West Ham.

The Fan Token

The Fan Token for Atletico de Madrid will be introduced during the 2019/2020 football season and will be priced at 2 Euros; it can even be earned by participating in the betting challenges of the platform. Fans that interact the most with the platform can earn more rewards. The aim of the platform is to increase the use of digital tokens while helping football clubs stay closer to their supporters. 

To acquire Atletico de Madrid Fan Token, supporters will have to first buy $CHZ, native token which is both an ERC20 utility token and a BEP-2 token.

$CHZ can be purchased through exchanges or directly from the platform; token holders will have the chance to participate in the so-called Fan Token Offering and thus purchase Atletico de Madrid Fan Tokens.
