Tron CEO Justin Sun is reportedly making efforts to reschedule his launch with billionaire Warren Buffett. However, it might be difficult trying to find a suitable time that would fit the respective schedules of everyone involved.
Speaking to BlockTV at the end of August 2019, Cliff Edwards — Tron’s global head of communications said the company is putting efforts towards making the $4.6 million lunch with Warren Buffett happen.
According to Edwards:
“We are in the process of corralling all of those nine people again to get it back on track. It took about two months for us to get all nine people to come to San Francisco and sit in one room for five hours with Warren Buffett.”
Back in late July 2019, BTCManager reported that Justin Sun had postponed the lunch with the “Oracle of Omaha,” citing a kidney stones diagnosis. The period also coincided with reports of run-ins with the authorities in China over a purported scam involving Sun and Tron.
Representatives from the Buffett camp reportedly took the news of the postponement well, despite the sudden nature. Edwards adding that while not ideal, members of the Glide Foundation and Buffett’s team understood the special circumstances.
A Lull in Sun’s Self Promotion
Sun earlier won the chance to have a charity lunch with Buffett describing it as an opportunity to change the latter’s stance on cryptocurrency. Buffett, the Berkshire Hathaway chief has consistently lambasted cryptos, calling them a bubble and rat-poisoned square.
Sun will be hoping his cohorts like Litecoin creator Charlie Lee will be able to make it to the new lunch date. However, this time, it appears the media circus that characterized the previous attempt won’t make a feature.
Since the saga that erupted during the postponement of the lunch and reports of Sun being on the run from Chinese authorities, there seems to have been a significant reduction in the Tron CEO’s self-promotion.
Sun did offer an apology on Chinese social media about the matter. Recently, Tron announced the launch of the “Sun Network” — Tron’s scalability solution.
China continues to grapple with several high-profile crypto scams including the recent Ether Delta and PlusToken cases. These scams happen despite the blanket ban on cryptocurrency trading and initial coin offerings (ICOs) that have been in effect in mainland China since 2017.
