My Care, an infection risk management solution developed by DNV GL and powered by VeChainThor blockchain has now been adopted by UK’s Portsmouth International Port.
Portsmouth International Port Embraces My Care
Portsmouth International Port, a cruise, ferry, and cargo terminal located in the city of Portsmouth on the South Coast of England has embraced VeChain-powered (VET) infection risk management solution My Care.
Notably, Portsmouth is one of the major transport hubs in the UK with passenger sailings now operating again between France and Spain. It has also been essentially functioning as a lifeline route for the Channel Islands, thereby necessitating apt safety measures to protect both staff and customers from infections.
For the uninitiated, My Care is an infection risk management solution jointly developed by DNV GL and VeChain that assesses the existing infection risk protocols and measures and determines if they are robust enough to ensure proper infection risk mitigation.
In Portsmouth International Port’s case, the My Care assessment was carried out last week to assess the safety protocols associated with passenger facing activities at the port such as terminal building, security control, car search bay, shuttle buses, passenger boarding bridge, and public gardens.
In addition to newly installed thermal image scanners at the port to check the temperature of staff and customers, the Portsmouth terminal has also been reconfigured into a one-way flow system with reduced capacity and space for social distancing.
Commenting on the development, Andrew Williamson, passenger operations manager at Portsmouth International Port said:
“Our aim was to give passengers confidence that the new preventative measures we have put into place are of the highest standard and to highlight the benefits of international travel by sea. This verification from DNV GL provides further reassurance about the efforts we are taking to keep them safe.”
“The whole port has worked together to make sure we can carry operations with the highest level of care.”
My Care Solution Gains Traction in COVID-19 Times
The Portsmouth International Port is just the latest to join a rapidly increasing list of entities using the My Care framework to assess their workplace risk infection management protocols.
Previously, Color Line AS, Norway’s largest cruise ferry line had adopted the My Care framework to assess the infection risk management protocols of its six-passenger and cargo vessels operating across Europe.
