On December 21, Zeppelin OS, an applications developer for smart contracts announced its existing packages that have been tweaked to support the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), improve user experience, and offer greater security on the Ethereum blockchain.
EVM Packages for Ethereum Smart Contracts
As stated in its blog post, Zeppelin has a set of packages based on smart contracts which can also be developed by the blockchain community. Some of these include the Gnosis Safe, Transaction Permission Layer, and LevelK Registry Builder.
The packages are mostly open source applications that can be updated by the community, and as such, improvements are made on a regular basis, with bugs and other vulnerabilities quickly detected in the application and fixed.
Per the team, the Gnosis Safe EVM package can be used as a Chrome extension or a mobile application. Its purpose is to enable users to store their Ethereum-based cryptoassets securely and conveniently. There is also a two-factor authentication that serves as a security measure for this package.
Assigning Attributes to Securities Tokens Using TPL
Also notable among these packages is the Transaction Permission Layer (TPL). Based on reports, this is a package that enables users to assign attributes to Ethereum addresses, which will, in turn, be used to control how a token is sent and received.
That is to say before a token is allowed to be transferred between participants, it must meet the requirements that have been set out by the developers. As a result, the way these tokens are transferred within a location can be controlled as well as those who are permitted to move it.
There’s also an OpenZeppelin package that is available on the Mainnet, Rinkeby, Kovan, and Ropsten. The solution facilitates the building of complex smart contracts for network standards like the ERC20 and ERC721 token standards.
Importantly, the team has stated that in addition to the afore listed packages, they are working around the clock to add more packages shortly and devs can also build their own. Zeppelin OS also says that developers can also build and use the Zeppelin OS to make contributions to the Ethereum community since these packages will be shared with others.
Launched in May 2018, Zeppelin Solutions is one of the platforms dedicated to creating highly-functional software for smart contracts.
On November 3, 2018, BTCManager reported that OpenZeppelin had received an update which would make it easier to fix bugs. Four major areas were improved upon, and it is expected that the solution will help to make Ethereum smart contracts more error free.
